I decided to run as an Indie this time to get past the toxicity of party politics and what I've found is that there's a larger majority of us out there that just want to get things fixed and left right for the next generations.
This campaign so far has been the most enjoyable of all and I've run in a few in the last six years because I've been able to express myself and my ideas for betting the lives of not only the folks in the 87th but for all Ohioans. I'm putting people over party and folks are getting what I'm all about.
Rural Ohioans are suffering more than ever and there's no real help on the horizon in terms of jobs, housing, decent healthcare and education, and the most vulnerable, the developmentally disabled and elderly are at risk, most of all.
My plan calls for restoring the full Local Government Fund rate to 4.65% from the General Fund so the millions of dollars taken from local governments since Gov. Kasich robbed it for the Rainy Day Fund can be funding once again local services and infrastructure repair.
My Bank of Ohio, a state public bank, will be able to loan funds to community banks, credit unions and others for building new businesses in rural Ohio, creating new supply chains, stronger food networks for farmers, foodbanks and others, and it will help build continuity in infrastructure buildout, repairs and upgrades.
My top priority is to create a state public bank in Ohio, modeled after the Bank of North Dakota which has successfully operated for 107 years. A Bank of Ohio could in time lend up to $100 Billion to inject capital all over the state.
